Re: Fire damage

I am sorry to hear your news, but glad that you have saved your car. Is the damage insured? I can't remember if yours is an English spec ERA or a Jap one. The good news is the damage is repairable - the bad new is the cost! The correct way to repair the damage is to remove the damaged parts of the b...

Re: Looking for era bonnet scoop

When I restored 1089 I had a boat builder take a mould of the bonnet scoop and the 4 piece body kit. It would seem that it is possible to obtain replica Japanese spec 5 piece body kits but I drew a complete blank trying to find any British spec 4 piece kits. I used one of the copy bonnet scoops on m...

Re: Turbo ?

You say you are suffering from smoke - it depends how the car is smoking as to the cause. You are correct that the turbo could be the reason, but the other possible cause are the valve stem oil seals - a much cheaper and easier fit. You ask why the Turbo smokes - if it is the turbo. The bearing in t...

Re: 25th Anniversary 2014

It is definitely worth buying the November copy of Miniworld and Mini Magazine because the Standford Hall display of ERAs is mentioned and pictured in both!

Re: Grille and bonnet badge

I thought I remembered your car - it really is in great condition. Have you moved the boot badge yet? when I saw the car it had obviously been stuck on in Japan by someone who was not familiar with the letters! Somewhere on this site there is quite a discussion about where Jap ERA badges should be!

Re: Details of ERA bonnet

Welcome! The bonnet certainly looks like a genuine ERA item, the holes look to be in the correct place. The holes should be 38mm (1.1/2") in diameter - if they are then the chances are it is a genuine bonnet. What is it worth? Ha well the question is what it is worth to you! To re-create an ERA bonn...

Re: Grille and bonnet badge

It looks in really good condition and you have air conditioning too! Be careful with the bodykit on kerbs and traffic bumps - I think we have all suffered some damage. I think the bonnet badge may be correct for a jap spec ERA, I do prefer the ERA one which I think you are going to fit. Did you know...
