have a look at the wiring diagram in the Technical section in the menu on the left. That shows what is connected to what. The part with the 2 wires and one pipe attached to the top of that radiator bracket is the boost modulator. As far as I know it works a bit like this... when accelerating under b...

also check out this pipe that loops from the side of the carb to the top of the manifold for leaks

1) Try this....
On the first valve, take off the pipe that goes to the side of the carb and block up with a bolt or similar.
This valve can be a tricky thing, working one minute and not the next so taking it out of the equation will determine whether its ok or not.

I would like to go to the IMM but trying to sort leave out is a bit of a 'mare, but hopefully.....

Tricky one... you may want to start looking at Serck services motorsport division... http://www.serckservicesmotorsport.co.uk/setrab-oil-coolers-5974.html They might be able to supply something that will work but a word about the mounts... Years ago, when Rover were in business and they had a ERA 11...

Fixed or adjustable - up to you, but once it's set to the correct angle why would you want to change it?
Personally I'd go for fixed for peace of mind knowing that it's not going to move
