Hi, I've seen the same valve on a Rover 220. It was part of the emissions control (charcoal canister I think). I'm sure Rover would have used it on other cars too.

Wow you found quite a cache of spare parts. I couldn't tell which hole you blocked off, was it the part throttle lean-off tube on the top of the carb? I have seen those anti-run on valves used on other rover cars, I think they were part of the emissions system as my friends rover 220 turbo had one c...

My era is hibernating in the shed so I can't comment on it's oil consumption as I haven't driven it much, but I don't remember my other mini using that much oil although 1 liter per 1500 miles doesn't sound that bad. As long as there isn't much visible smoke (a bit on startup maybe from oil sitting ...
