MOCAL OIL THERMOSTAT OVERHAUL
I got the service kit from mocal. Excellent service from them. Less than 24hours from placing the order. I took the stat off the car and took it apart. It is a very simple bit of kit. Both halves of the casting look to be exactly the same so I dont think it can be put together wrongly. The new kit h...

Re: OIL THERMOSTAT FITTING TO MINI ERA TURBO
Not run the car much last year as we all have been less active on the classic car scene. When I did have the ERA out I still have an issue with the oil temp. The temperature gauge I fitted to the sump gives me the same reading as the oil cooler gauge. So is the thermostat I fitted actually working? ...

GAZ Adjustable Shock Absorbers
I fitted GAZ shock absorbers in the rebuild. So they went on the road in 2013. Towards the end of 2019 I found when I went over a very slight uneven road surface the car hit it as though the suspension was solid. It went BANG!. I racked my brains and thought of all possibility’s something lose, some...

Re: OIL THERMOSTAT FITTING TO MINI ERA TURBO
I ran the car through 2019 and I didn’t see much of a change in the oil temperature. This year 2020 done very little as COVID 19 shut down most gatherings. I think the thermostat I have fitted needs to be checked as I am not sure it is working properly. I am also worried about the rubber hose I have...

POOR QUALITY RUBBER
While fitting my oil thermostat recently I discovered the inner CV joint rubber gaiters had split. They have only been on the car for 6 years. I wouldn't expect them to go in that time. and, while replacing them one of the rubber covers on a track rod ends I discovered had also split I cannot rememb...

Re: OIL THERMOSTAT FITTING TO MINI ERA TURBO
Took the car out today. I now have the thermostat fitted and I have a temperature gauge fitted to the sump. It was a good hot day today the sump oil gauge showed the oil temperature rising, the original gauge showed no movement. The thermostat obviously working. As the temperature in the sump rose t...

Re: Restoration of R1036
That's interesting I have read about using the GT17 turbo on the turbominis site. Will you be putting a Megajolt ignition system on it?

Re: Restoration of R1036
Just interested what turbo are you putting on it as it doesn't look like the garrett T3 turbo. I know from experience there is very little room. Even though the bulkhead has been cut to make room it is very difficult to vary the set up ERA settled on and make things fit. Who is building the engine?
