Re: Restoration R1028
A short update I stripped down the front running gear and removed the sub frame. Cleaned it all up and derusted and treated everything and painted it, all ready to go back together. I relined the turbo cut away with new heat reflective mat. I am now preparing what little rust there is under the wing...

Re: Dizzy thoughts....
Interesting post. I don't have the original unit. Do you or anybody else have the actual Lucas numbers for the unit. I know it is a 65DM4 which is the common type but the other numbers will be interesting to know. On the body of the unit, the bracket of the vac advance and the number stamped on the ...

Re: Restoration R1028
I got the car back again today. The work has been done to the level I would have expected the first time. It looks very good. Why would anybody do a job that has to be done twice? Much easier to do it right the first time. Anyway, that episode is over. Now the work starts on the reconstruction. I am...

Re: Restoration R1028
Inconsistent gloss. Runs in clear coat. Paint lifting on the nearside wing. Paint lifting on seam trim. In the engine bay the turbo housing box they have just painted over the rust. Quote "Thought it wouldn't be seen" I scraped through it with my thumb nail. Missed areas in many places. The body kit...

Re: Restoration R1028
I have found a few problems with the paint finish.
Very disappointed.
It is going back to the body shop for them to put right the things that are wrong.
As I said very disappointed!!!!

Re: Black one being a pain again.
Have you read the information in the technical section Wiring diagram and circuit description? Another story I had a spitfire MK3. My Brother took it over and he recently had a problem. Body Kit Photos Wanted
I need to see the way the body kit fits into the door opening. I need to see how much is trimmed off the kit to allow the door to shut. I have a couple of photos but they are not too clear. If possible the shape of the kit as it passes the bottom of the A panel and goes on to the step. The depth of ...

Re: Restoration R1028
I went to the body shop today to take a couple of parts in and to check on progress. A couple of photos attached. Note the very nice Austin Healy 3000 in the background.
