ERA Stand at MITP

Just a quick posting to thank all those who brought along their ERAs to MITP at Santa Pod yesterday and, in particular, to Daren and his good lady for doing all the booking and organising of the stand. Thanks again guys, without your support this site would be a very quiet place. Looking forward to ...

Re: Stanford Hall 9 Sept 2007

Hi Daren. Usualy go on centre 'Showcase' stand but last year spoke to Chris Searl (Mini Owners Club) http://www.miniownersclub.co.uk - about ERA stand. Delighted to see us if we can get about 10 cars and separate stand will be provided on the main area, not down side lane with clubs. Will attend wit...

Re: The engine's out

Looks nice Daren. Have you got a new flywheel? I should imagine that the original is not too good on its inside bore!

Re: Track Day use ???

Hi Duncan. In answer to your question regarding offset for ERA wheels. On this site, under 'Buyers Guide' - Body and Wheels, the original Compomotive wheels are shown with the following spec moulded in to the rims TRACKSTAR 6.0 J x 13 D1360 ET15”. which is also repeated in the text. I think this ans...

Re: Brakes

See my post in 'Technical' about wrong cylinders being fitted. The smaller bore cylinder will require more effort to lock wheels. Chris spun it 90deg a couple of times when we first got it, but only just found out why. I know its difficult to find exactly what is fitted, but 10mm bleed nipples as op...

Re: Hello All!

We have a nearly full set of works drawings and details of all cars built -even down to the ignition key number! Best of...

Rear Wheel Brake Cylinders on ERA

Just discovered interesting things about the brakes on the ERA :o Whilst carrying out a pre-MOT on our ERA (R1031). I was annoyed to find that the nearside rear brake drum was binding. With the hanbrake fully on, however, it would still not lock the wheel. Backed off the adjuster, but still binding ...

Re: Track Day use ???

Hi all. The oil recommended by ERA was Castrol Syntron -X. This oil is a fully synthetic 10W60 grade oil, which is now unavailable. My own theory , shared by others, as that any car engine fitted with a turbo should only ever be lubricated with a fully synthetic (PAO) lubricating oil. Typified by Mo...

Re: Fueling Problems with Red Japanese ERA

Hi Paul I had correspondence some time ago with a chap who had fitted a Metro Turbo engine into a standard Mini and was having similar problems. I mentioned the fuel pump Ballast Resistor to him, which is in circuit when the fuel pump relay is energised on release of the key. He hadn't fitted the it...
