Air filter options

Post by loe 2 » Sun Apr 04, 2010 12:34 pm

I wanted to ask members what air filter they use. The original ERA 1103 seems to be NLA.
Have you found another make's filter that fits and what was it ?
Or is there a supply in Japan of new old stock ERA1103's ?
This is for a UK ERA if there is any difference.
Thanks.

I've always used Ford Escort XR3i or Ford Escort RS Turbo air filters, they seem to be the same.

I had the motor factors checking the size of them as Paul had hinted to me they might fit. They reconed they were to big. I will order one an check it out. Thanks.

Hi, i have heard it was an escort RS turbo too.

My car is a replica (as you may have seen) and to try and keep it as close to a real ERA as possible make, i brought an escort RS turbo air box and modified it to get it under the wing.
I then brought a K&N filter for it so i have a filter for life.

When you work out if it the XR3i one or RS turbo one i would recommend you too get a K&N filter to save the problem in the future.

I hope you manage to get one sorted soon.

All the best

Darren :)

Think I put a Wix or a Motoquip one in whatever my factor had, they seem a little thicker arround the mounting rubber but went in ok, assume ERA's airbox might have squeezed it a bit over the years.

Thanks for your replys, I did find an original ERA1103 it was very expensive, but needs must. Anyway I have time to sort out another for the future.
As a note the original was made by coopers, no longer listed.

I believe it used to be a Coopers AG416 but I have used a Halfords
HAF 203 (I think) for the last 15 years without any probs. About £5 a poke

Just pulled out the original air filter from my ERA.

It is a Coopers AG416 AKC filter and has the following measurements:
325mm x 125mm x 34mm
