Fire damage

Post by natalya86 » Wed Jan 21, 2015 7:45 pm

I've had a disaster...
My tumble dryer caught fire in the garage where my ERA is kept. By the time I was alerted to the fire it was quite bad. In such a panic couldn't find the keys so had to push it out of garage. On one side bumper and paintwork has melted at the front. Few minutes later whole garage engulfed in flames. Damage to mini is relatively superficial and could have been a whole lot worse I guess. Would anyone have any suggestions about repairs? Xx

I am sorry to hear your news, but glad that you have saved your car. Is the damage insured? I can't remember if yours is an English spec ERA or a Jap one. The good news is the damage is repairable - the bad new is the cost! The correct way to repair the damage is to remove the damaged parts of the bodykit, replace or repair. Repaint any damaged paint on the car. Repaint the repaired or replaced body kit. Fit new sealing rubber to the bodykit then fit the bodykit to the car.

My best advice - choose your repairer very carefully!
