Glad you and the site are back and once again accepting new members!

I have been following your thread now for about 2 years and have found it fascinating - the rear seat looks great. What colour/type/quality carpet did you settle on and how closely does it match the original?

Thanks for taking the trouble to update this thread - I am sure many people are quietly watching your progress!

I tried everywhere to match the carpet colour and failed dismally. I decided to go for the darker shade of grey from Coverdale Blenheim - Flint Grey.
The quality is the same as the original. It is easier to work with than a thicker non automotive carpet.
The problem is the door cards. They are trimmed with the original carpet and of course it won't match. My upholsterer suggested I recover them but I am reluctant to do that as they are original.
I think it will be OK.
Only time will tell
I thought if I eventually found the right colour I could replace them with it later.
When I get the carpets fitted I will post pics.

Darren, the templates were great. They worked well thanks again

Had you thought about keeping your original door cards (Just in case) and retrimming replacement doorcards in leather with perhaps some detail stitching and then using the new carpet at the bottoms. In the back seat against the newly trimmed companion box lids I think this would look great!

I had thought about doing this and decided to stick with the originals and see if I could live with them. If not then I will re trim new cards. That will be quite expensive in all leather as it will take another hide and they are about £250 at the moment + labour costs. It all gets very complicated as I posted in another thread the stitching is welted ( it takes two passes through the sewing machine so twice the work.)
I haven't ruled it out though.

My upholsterer told me when he returned all the seats to me that he didn't want to do another ERA seat job as it was a nightmare.

I have just finished fitting the carpets. It went well and it looks pretty good. Whether I was right to go for the darker shade is open to debate.
I can always change it if I find the correct carpet at a later date.
It does match the dash top and shelf colour though

Thanks Arrian.
I had a quick look at the first photos I posted on this thread just to remind me how bad it looked

Looks great, these cars are survivors, only others with an ERA would even notice, and we are all having to do things that is not 100% perfect especially with trim carpets and rubbers, etc.
