ERA seats and carpet

Post by prop » Mon Apr 16, 2012 1:36 pm

I have been doing the rounds of car re trimmers.
Anyone considering this should go armed with smelling salts, and a supply of paper hankies to mop up the tears from watering eyes caused by the prices quoted.
I have been given a few free tips which will come in handy though.
I have learnt that the closest match to the leather is Jaguar Savile Grey although the grain could be difficult to match the shade is spot on.
In fact the seats are stitched the same way as Jaguar stitch (the expensive way) Piping is the cheap way because it only takes one pass on the sewing machine. The way our cars are stitched takes two passes so twice the work.
I have found that it is very unlikely to find a colour match for the carpet unless a remnant can be spotted somewhere. The style of carpet is not a problem it is the shade of grey again I am told that it is Savile grey.
