Spare Wheel

Post by prop » Sun Nov 17, 2013 4:27 pm

I did not get a spare wheel with my car when I got it so I have a 13 inch Minilite with the same offset. When I put it in the boot it didn’t fit. It sits on top of the battery on the right side.
Not surprising really as the space was made for thinner 12" wheels and tyres.
I found information that the spare was a 13" Moke steel a while ago and was wondering if anyone can confirm that.
Back to my spare.
I haven’t researched yet but, is the battery shorter than the one I have fitted?
As you can see if it was lower in the battery box the wheel would lie flat.
Or is it a different wheel?

Hello,
in the section advertising material and then the technical specs.
You can find this:

Wheels and Tyres Wheels: 6" x 13" alloys
Tyres: 165/60 HR13
Spare Wheel: 12" x 4 1/2" Steel Wheel
Spare Tyre: 145/70 SR12

I also have this spare wheel in the back of my car,and it fits perfectly.

I believe they all had 12" steel spares with a 145 tyre on them (same as 1996> sport pack coopers).
This allows the boot board to sit over it.

If you get a flat on the front you need to swap a rear for the steel wheel and put the rear alloy on the front due to the brake callipers.

I keep my spare 13" in the shed just in case.
