Just back from Himley Hall (sorry Darren didn't see your post until just logged in) - great weather and a good run back over to the Black Country (we used to live in Stourbridge and Brierley Hill).

Met the guy who owns R1020 which he bought last Nov with just 2K on the clock. He also owns an original MGTF and an Austin Healey 3000 - lucky guy!

His was the only ERA that I saw at the show though there may have been some in the car park.

I will post some pics of his car.

Next shows for us are the Classic Car show at Ragley Hall near Redditch in two weeks (with CMOC) and then the Thong Run at the end of May with the Mini Clubman Estate mob (yes I know it is an ERA but apparently all classic Mini's are allowed in).

Hi Jeremy,

I parked behind B16ERA in the top carpark. managed to ged a chat with Ian the owner and moved the cars for a pic before we left.

I also had a chat with Peter R1020.

Was you there in your ERA? we did a car park walk at about 15:00 but didn't spot any others.

i didn't arrive until about 13:00. i had a little engine trouble. see pic below. Doh.

Yep.

Minisport recons that is was because i had not set them up right.

Before i fitted them i phoned for advice and all they asked was what cam i had, piper t3, they said that should be fine. I just had to check if there was 40 thou between coils. i checked them and there was about 60 thou in total. it now appears that they meant 40 thou between each coil. perhaps it was my fault, but the fitting instructions didnt make it that clear. expensive for about 12 miles driving.

i now need a new rocker, shims to lift the pillars, and new springs.
guess i will be fitting them to the next head now.

You would have missed us as we left around 2.15pm to get to the Fountain at Lower Gornal for lunch (lovely local pub if anyone is ever stranded near Dudley!).

I didn't do a full walk around the car park as I had Sara with me and Joe in a rucksack carrier on my back and he's pretty heavy after a couple of hours.

Looks like a you have a had a bit of misfortune there - was it still running??

No, it was an exhaust valve so no where for the gasses to go after combustion. luckily i was slowing down for some traffic lights (on the dudley road half way between the pie factory & the B C museum) so was only doing about 20 when it happened.

i only live in walsall and my parents are in aldridge, so i phoned my dad and he picked me up the tools and my old rocker assembly and i swapped it on the side of the road. 1hr wait for my dad, 35mins to fix, so not too bad.

its a shame i missed you. we will meet up at another show. are you going to the imm?

We are planning to go to Mini 50 as part of IMM and all being well I will get the ERA on the ERA stand (probably on Sunday) for the day now that they have relaxed the rules about having to attend all days of the IMM and allow cars on so long as they arrive before the opening.

Regarding future shows - on my definites list are:
Ragley Hall Classic Car Show 24th May (part of Central Mini Owners Club 15 car stand)
Thong Run Kenilworth - 31st May
British Mini Showdown at Avon Park 11/12th July - anyone else brave enough?
Great Western Mini Day at Blaise Castle 19th July
Mini In The Park at Santa Pod - 16th August
MiniWorld Action Day at Castle Combe - 26th Sept

On my probables list:
Gaydon Mini Festival - 4-5th July
British Mini Club Uttoxeter - 6th Sept
National Mini Show Lutterworth - 13th Sept

If anyone else is attending any of these let us know.
