Gorgeous looking car in the best colour ;) possibly a candidate for the worst worded advert for a ERA ever though. Boot badge in wrong place?

hmmm that's the 3rd black ERA I've seen with the boot badge in that position. I wonder if there was some silly reason for it? Here's an early pick of R1024 just before I carried out a partial restoration on it and the badge is in the same place. I remember having a good look at the badge when I had it and it looked like the badge had always been there.

Got to agree though I absolutely love black ERA's! Wanna do a swap Paul :)

I have seen several ERA's with the badge there too.

I wonder if ERA just wanted to be different one day.
I have a feeling Ian's B16ERA was there at one point too.

Just noticed the ERA badge in Keiths pic. I was looking at the mini badge - bottom right. I think Ian's ERA logo was top left & mini logo was bottom right.

I have been in touch with the seller. He has owned it for the last 9 years.
it is No R1065.
I'm hoping that when it gets brought, the new owner will join the register and we get to see it at some shows.

Chris, you can add its reg No to the register if you like.

The late Japanese ones the ROVER ised ones with the Rover Ship on the bonnet had ROVER where the ERA one is on the boot on this black one and then the ERA one the other side of the number plate.

According to the ERA production drawing,(MSK4041A) shown below, the correct location for the ERA badge on Boot lid is as follows:-
The centre bar of the letter 'E' is exactly 100mm from the top edge of the boot and the centre point of the same bar in the letter 'E' is 80mm from the left edge. The letters on the badge are all vertical.

I suspect when the cars where sent for respray to black by ERA, the badges were fitted incorrectly.
I hope this clarifies the issue.

For completeness I attach drawing for Japan model boot lid badges:
The dimensions are now: top bar of 'E' is 256mm from top edge of boot and right edge of 'E' is 125mm from right hand side.
Note that Rover badge on left has no measurement position given, It looks as if it is aligned in centre of number plate recess.
