Anyone else planning a trip to the Mini track day at Castle Combe in Wiltshire later this month?

I've never been before, whats it like on the track? I'm more worried about some over enthusiastic boy racer crashing into me rather than getting a bit carried away myself.

I have been before in my white Cooper with ex-rally engine and had no problems apart from the engine which was burning a bit of oil before i thrashed it for 15 minutes on the track and distinctly off-key by the time I had finished. It was however great fun!

Pretty well organised and not too many nutters that i saw - the main problem was looking out for the Mighty/Miglia Mini's that turn up as they are so much quicker than most ordinary cars so they tend to swoop up on you.

Castle Combe is the only track day that I have ever done in my own cars (been round twice before - the other was a Lotus Elise in the damp which I spun off due to driver incompetence on my part but no damage except to my pride). It has good run off areas and a particularly challenging tight left hander over a crest of a hill at the end of the straight which is where most people have problems if anywhere.

We are definitely going as we have overnight hotel booked.

Funnily enough I had a slight 'moment' on that same chicane on my last lap but fortunately no one caught it on film - it scared the bloke behind me though!
