Thanks Darren a picture would be great as that's where I was thinking of putting a sub now I have a trailer and the space is not so important.

Been busy again :)

Time to sort out a small oil leak so I jacked it up and replaced the drive shaft oil seal. I had both drive shaft seals and a gear shift oil seal to do but only one of the seals needed replacing. While it was on the jacks I also changed the oil and filter and gave it a minor service, it's only done 4000 miles since the last major service. I also done a bit of tarting up under the bonnet and I was going to do a bit more but Colin turned up with his Mayfair with a list of problems and I thought I may as well sort his car out first.

I also award myself the w@nker of the week award for missing the ball joint splitter with the hammer and taking a chunk out of the newly painted body kit. Arrrggggg fook

Doh.

what a bugger.
i think a new splitter wouldnt go a miss too. Mine is the type that you uses a bolt to split them but you still need to knock it over the ball joint first.

Bugger! Also I just noticed that yours doesn't have an auxillary electric radiator fan fitted, maybe its just a jap only thing but my jap one has an electric fan bolted to the slats in the inner guard too.

The auxiliary is just on the Japanese cars as far as I know, never seen one on a UK car.

Hi Keith
As promissed here are a couple pics of my sub enclosure.
You are probably aware that to get the best out of a sub you really need the correct size enclosure, however this is a free air sub and so isnt quite so critical for best performance.
I decided to go this route as it still left space to get to the battery and i am still able to get an overnight bag in the boot.
I hope this gives you a little food for thought.
All the best
Darren :)

Time to upgrade the sound system.

I always used to be well into car audio but I have managed to avoid the temptation with the ERA or at least I did do until a mate gave me a 12" JL sub in thanks for a favour I done for him.

I bought some grey leatherette vinyl from ebay and some 18mm MDF from B&Q for the boot build.

I've started with the easiest side, the fuel tank and cut out the MDF to the shape of the fuel tank then covered it in the vinyl. Just got to do the right hand side and the boot floor now.

Just got to get it all setup now and finish off a few things. Sounds crap at the moment, everything rattle's and vibrates

Now that the bumpers are off of my ERA I am definitely going to have to fix them up after I have seen how good yours look.

You had to color match though? No one has the original BRG color info?
